City of Calgary Privacy Breach Class Action

The class action was filed on behalf of the 3,716 City employees whose personal and confidential information was compromised.
The Claim essentially alleges various acts and omissions by the City and its employee which resulted in the privacy breach and for which they are liable to the affected employees for damages, including for an intrusion on their privacy, an increased risk of identity theft, financial fraud, financial losses and psychological injury.
$92.9 million dollars is the total estimated amount claimed for general and special damages.
